Sweet Mother of God
"A prominent fashion designer has sparked outrage in Chile by dressing up models like the Virgin Mary -- in some cases with ample, near-naked breasts."
I just found your website yesterday. I've been reading and find it very interesting. It's cool to see how the "other side" takes "us"-I'm a Christian.
As a Christian I find nothing wrong with the photos/paintings. I can see why some may be offended, but Mary was human, a sexual being so where's the problem? Why does fleshy art have to be viewed as sexual? It wasn't so much a few hundred years ago.
To me most of them look like breastfeeding moms. Can moms not be sexy?? Okay I'll climb off my soapbox now. I'm with you on the ridiculousness of this one...but not many others :)
I'll be honest, if I was a Christian I would find pictures of a sexy Mary offensive. But everyone has the right to free speech. Even Christians. If someone wanted to create a billboard that said "Atheism is for Losers" I would think it was stupid but I wouldn't try to silence them.
Anyway, glad you're open minded enough to read my blog. Keep posting comments: I like reading feedback from all the folks who drop by my blog.
One more thing I forgot to write: I agree with you that the human body shouldn't be offensive to people. Sex shouldn't be nearly as offensive as it is either. I mean, I understand why people wouldn't want children to see certain things (S & M, for instance), but who cares if a kid sees a woman's breasts? He's probably already seen them somewhere before and he will almost certainly see them when he gets to be a young man.

I wish she greeted me on my toast every morning! Yum.
Even better: I'd like to be the Holy Spirit when it came time to impregnate her.
Now that's my kind of BVM.
